Since establishing herself as a professional artist back in 2013 Andrea has taken on various roles, commissions, exhibitions and much more. Along with the support of the people around me she has produced a documentary on the lives and work of the moorland farmers on Danby Common, had a solo exhibition at Woodend Gallery in Scarborough and set up an grass roots community arts company.
Recently she finished an outdoor mural for a holiday cottage in Skinningrove, the mural is of a beach scene on a 17ft wall.
For the past couple of years Andrea has been focused on grass roots arts, and started a project called East Cleveland Arts. This project has become so successful that it turned into a Community Interest Company in 2020.
East Cleveland Arts started in the Old Co-Op building in Loftus in 2017, it was damp and cold and for the first few weeks very very empty. There hadn't been a grass root arts organisation in East Cleveland since the Village Arts Project and it is something that was needed. Now 3 years have past and we have our own little Arts Centre opening in Brotton a mobile cinema and a lot of amazing ideas!
Now as we enter 2021, in the midst of a global Coronavirus pandemic the need for grass roots arts is never more prevalant, the need to bring communities back together will become more essential as we have been seperated for so long.
